In the News: National Outlets Cover Record Verdict Holding Johnson & Johnson Accountable

Earlier this month, a Los Angeles County jury returned a verdict awarding the family of Mae Moore damages totaling $966 million.

The nearly $1 billion verdict secured by Dean Omar Branham Shirley on behalf of the family of Mae Moore, an 88-year-old mother and pastor’s wife who died from mesothelioma caused by Johnson & Johnson’s asbestos-contaminated baby powder, has drawn widespread national attention.

Major outlets including The New York Times, Forbes, Reuters, Bloomberg, Law360 and more have reported on the $966 million award, which includes $950 million in punitive damages

“This verdict speaks for every family who has been forced to face loss because of corporate decisions made behind closed doors,” said DOBS partner Trey Branham. “Mae’s story was heard, and justice was delivered.”
