$15 Million Verdict Against Johnson & Johnson Named Top 10 Most Impressive Plaintiff Verdicts for 2024

Dean Omar Branham Shirley’s Connecticut jury verdict from last October has been recognized by Courtroom View Network in its 2024 Top 10 Most Impressive Plaintiff Verdicts. Ranked at number five on the list is Evan Plotkin v. Johnson & Johnson. 

Mr. Plotkin, a father of three, was diagnosed with mesothelioma—a cancer of the lining of the lungs linked to asbestos exposure—at the age of 64. Ben Braly, a partner at Dean Omar Branham Shirley, argued that Mr. Plotkin’s condition resulted from his exposure to Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based baby powder containing asbestos.  

“In addition to awarding $15 million in compensatory damages the jury also returned a “punitive conduct finding” which will require the presiding judge in the case to make a future determination of additional punitive damages,” CVN writes.
